About RSPCA WA

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) WA is the state's leading voice in animal welfare. RSPCA WA is managed locally but works toward the goals of the organisation Australia-wide. On an average day, we employ around 100 staff, and we have the support of an amazing group of volunteers. Together, our team works diligently toward preventing animal cruelty.

About this opportunity

This is our key front-line role in enforcing the Animal Welfare Act 2002. Reporting to the Inspector Manager, the inspectors work as part of a dedicated team who are responsible for investigating reports of animal cruelty and educating the public on animal welfare. In some instances, these investigations result in criminal prosecutions where you are responsible for putting together briefs and working with our legal team to take these matters to court. Primarily though, this is a small part of what we do, we aim to prevent cruelty by working with the WA Community in a compassionate and meaningful way.

This role is full-time, 38 hours per week, based in the southwest. Historically, RSPCA WA inspectors have worked on their own, but we are in the process of transitioning to two up model where all inspectors will work in a rotating pair. This role will work with the current inspector to cover the region, based in from a Busselton location. This role requires a large amount of driving to cover this area, predominantly working on a Monday – Friday basis. There may be occasions where you are required to work weekends or be on-call for a particular matter.

Many people want to work at RSPCA WA because they feel they are “animal” people, not “people” people, this role requires someone who has excellent communication and enjoys working with people, and as part of a team, to assist the community on a daily basis.
