What to expect at a Community Action Day
Our friendly team of RSPCA WA staff and volunteers are available to provide information, advice, dog care services and supplies at a local park or reserve.
A free sausage sizzle is also provided at some locations.
For dog owners:
- Free health checks for dogs and puppies
- Free dog microchipping (not available for litters or breeders)
- Free flea and worming treatments
- Free chain exchange (swap a choke chain or prong collar for a humane collar)
- Free dog food
- Free educational information about dog care and responsible dog ownership
- Free dog training advice
For cat owners:
- Free health advice for cats and kittens
- Free flea and worming treatments (pick-up only)
- Free cat food
- Free educational information about cat care and responsible cat ownership
We encourage you to arrive early, as we operate on a first-come, first-served basis and supplies may run out.

Community Action Days are held regularly in Perth, and in regional areas when possible (as far north as Broome and as far south as Albany).

Does it cost anything?
I have registered online. Can I turn up at any time?
Our online registration allows us to be prepared with suitable, sufficient supplies; however, health checks are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. We recommend arriving as early as possible to ensure you are seen in a timely manner and have the time to complete the relevant paperwork.
Will there be enough supplies for me to get if I arrive later at the event?
What if it rains or the weather is very hot?
Please check our event page and social media channels before attending. In cases of extreme weather, event details may change to ensure the safety of pets, owners, volunteers, and staff.
Can I bring my cat?
My dog doesn’t like other dogs or people. Can I still bring them?
Yes, all dogs are welcome, however, if your dog is reactive to other dogs or people, please keep your distance and alert a staff member on arrival. We will then discuss the best procedure for support at the event.
My dog has been unwell. Can I still bring them?
If your dog is unwell on the day of the event, please reach out to RSPCA WA staff before bringing your dog. We can discuss options with you to protect both the other dogs at the event and your own.
Can I bring more than one dog?
Can someone else bring my dog on my behalf?
I don’t know my dog's microchip number/ I need to update the microchip details. Do I need to get them microchipped again?
