Help improve the lives of animals in need by playing an important role in RSPCA WA’s daily operations – whether you’re in the shelter with animals or behind-the-scenes with spreadsheets.
RSPCA WA simply could not do what we do without our generous volunteers, who collectively give over 2,000 hours of their time each month (based on 2024-25 figures).

We urgently need foster carers to support the recovery and ongoing wellbeing of the many animals in our care who would benefit from a more predictable and relaxed home environment.

We have short-term, medium-term and long-term fostering opportunities available, and we provide everything you need to care for the animal.
Shelter care volunteers provide practical, hands-on support to animals and their facilities at our RSPCA WA Animal Care Centre in Malaga. As a shelter care volunteer, you’ll complete mandatory training and begin with entry-level tasks like cleaning and basic animal care to ensure the safety and wellbeing of both animals and people.
As your shelter experience builds, you’ll have the opportunity to spend more hands-on time with the animals, including dog walking and interactive playtime with cats and dogs for their ongoing enrichment.
We ask for a commitment of at least one regular two-hour shift per fortnight for a period of at least six months.
Thanks to the generosity of our current volunteer team, we have limited shifts available but encourage you to apply if you’re interested so we can contact you if/ when suitable shifts arise.
We rely on volunteers to provide behind-the-scenes support that doesn’t directly involve animals. You can opt to help behind-the-scenes in the following ways:
These roles are based at the RSPCA WA Animal Care Centre in Malaga and are typically long-term (at least six months’ commitment to regular shifts), but occasionally short-term, flexible admin roles become available.
As an event volunteer, you can help RSPCA WA educate the community about better animal welfare and assist local pet owners with looking after their pets by volunteering at our regular Community Action Days.
We also occasionally need event volunteers to help with fundraising events and other community events that help educate, engage and support the work that RSPCA WA does to advance animal welfare.
This is a flexible volunteer role that allows you to get involved in one-off events that suit you, with tasks including event preparation and on-the-day activities.
