About the Awards
The RSPCA WA Animal Welfare Awards recognise and celebrate acts of bravery, compassion and advocacy carried out by individuals and groups to improve animal welfare standards – as well as a special category for animals who have positively impacted others in outstanding ways.
Successful nominees are celebrated with a gold, silver or bronze award, and there is no limit to the number of award winners. Instead, the award winners and their category are determined based on their dedication, the nature of their efforts and the impact of their efforts on animals in WA.

The 2026 and 2027 Awards have been combined for our biggest celebration of animals and animal welfare yet.
The RSPCA WA Animal Welfare Awards Ceremony will be held in October 2027 around World Animal Day to celebrate the people in Western Australia who go above and beyond to improve animal welfare.

The award categories
Animal Award
This award recognises an animal that has made a significant positive impact on the life of their owner, or a member/s of the community. This award celebrates the incredible bond and loyalty that can develop between humans and animals.
This could be a pet who has had a significant positive impact on their owner’s life, or a therapy or a service animal who has helped many people.

Criteria:
- The nominee must be an animal(s) (including service animals)
- The animal is from Western Australia
- The reason for the nomination took place in Western Australia on or after 1 January 2026
Humane Award
This award recognises a person or people who, in an isolated event or incident, demonstrated exceptional courage and bravery in rescuing an animal or animals.

Criteria:
- Available to one or more individuals over the age of 18
- The individual(s) being nominated is from Western Australia
- The reason for the nomination took place in Western Australia on or after 1 January 2026
Youth Award
This award recognises a person or group under the age of 18 who has made an outstanding contribution to animal welfare through directly improving the lives of animals, raising awareness of animal welfare issues, or leading a project that has significantly improved animal welfare in WA.

- The individual(s) being nominated is from Western Australia
- The reason for the nomination took place in Western Australia on or after 1 January 2026
Community Action Award
This award recognises an individual or community group for an outstanding contribution to improving the lives of animals, significantly heightening awareness of animal welfare issues, or making a substantial positive contribution to the lives of animals through a project that directly impacts wellbeing.

Volunteer Award
Volunteers make an incredible contribution to animal welfare in Western Australia – they are the backbone of countless groups and organisations. This award is to honour an individual who, through their volunteering, has made a significant impact on the lives of animals.
