Leave a Gift in Your Will

Animals give you a better life. Will you leave them a better world?

Leaving a gift in your Will to RSPCA WA is a thoughtful way to ensure your love of animals lives on, and your generosity continues to help give a second chance to so many animals in need.

This page includes information about:

  • How to leave a gift in your Will to help animals
  • The 'Home Ever After' program for your pets
  • Information for solicitors and executors of Wills

smiling woman with Malamute dogJackie & Tuk

Jackie lives in Perth with her foster fail and “fluffy marshmallow” of a malamute, Tuk. She tells
how volunteering with rescue animals helped her connect to a deeper purpose and passion in life.

I was born loving animals. Growing up in London, I’d see a dog, yell "doggie", and I was off – never mind the traffic, roads and other people.

At the age of eight, after moving to Western Australia, I welcomed my first furry teacher – Rex. He taught me compassion and love through all stages of life. As a teenager, I knew nothing of growing old, but he gave me his paw and led me on this journey.

Since then, I’ve been blessed with several other gorgeous dogs – Buster, Daisy, and more recently Sunny – a Staffy cross who was taken from me too soon.

A deep love for my pets blossomed into a passion for helping all animals when I started volunteering at a rescue organisation about 30 years ago.

Looking into the eyes of those broken souls helped me realise I don’t have to solve all the issues of animal cruelty. I just have to make a difference to one animal’s life – because it will mean absolutely everything to that animal.

My current fur child Tuk was a “foster fail” from RSPCA WA – she’s an older girl who needed me… turns out I needed her too. She’s a big, beautiful, fluffy marshmallow with a love of cream cheese.

She has brought healing and a renewed sense of purpose to my life.

One day I will be reunited with my beloved animals who have gone before me. Just as I have chosen to
show up day after day, year after year, with a heart full of love to help the animals who have been victims
of cruelty, so I have chosen to make a difference to the lives of animals after I have gone by leaving a gift to RSPCA WA in my Will.

How to leave a gift in your Will

After making provisions for those you want to provide for, you can help the animals you love so much through including a gift in your Will to RSPCA WA. No matter the size of your gift, it will help to leave animals a better world.

Step 1: Think about the type of gift you'd like to leave.

Step 2: Talk to your solicitor.

Step 3: Talk to your family.

Download this Gifts in Wills guide for more detailed information about the types of gifts you can leave, suggested wording, and the correct technical information to provide to your solicitor to ensure your wishes are carried out.

A Home Ever After for your pets

Smiling couple with their small dogs"There’s no guarantee that friends or family will be able to look after your pets once you’ve gone, which is why our two dogs Hamish and Angus are registered in RSPCA’s ‘A Home Forever’ Program.

"As a volunteer with RSPCA I fully appreciate the work they do and it gives us great peace of mind knowing our precious dogs will get the care they need and be rehomed into a loving family, after we are gone."
- Janet and Graham, pictured with Angus and Hamish.

Our beloved pets are much more than our friends, they’re our family. So what would happen to them when we’re gone or no longer able to care for them?

RSPCA's Home Ever After program gives you true peace of mind that your pets will be found new permanent loving homes after your death. Home Ever After is a free service provided to people who leave a gift in their Will to RSPCA WA.

You can register your pets in Home Ever After in three easy steps:

Step 1: Request an Information Pack.

Step 2: When you register, provide as much information about your pets as possible so we can match them with the right family when the time comes.

Step 3: We will send your confirmation that your pets are registered, giving you peace of mind.
