Free support for City of Stirling pet lovers
RSPCA WA will be supporting pet owners based in the Nollamara area and nearby suburbs on Tuesday 22 September from 1pm – 3pm at Des Penman Reserve, Nollamara.
Community Action Days are a free service for Western Australians who are experiencing financial hardship and having difficulty providing care for their pets.
A friendly team of RSPCA WA staff and volunteers including veterinarians and behaviour trainers will be providing health checks for dogs and puppies, dog microchipping, flee and worming treatments, pet food, educational information and advice at no charge.
RSPCA WA has seen an increase in cruelty reports in the City of Stirling in recent years, with over 40 calls coming from Nollamara alone. With the majority of calls relating to dogs and puppies, this highlights the need for RSPCA WA Community Actions Days for local residents.
RSPCA WA Chief Operating Officer, Hannah Dreaver says we are acutely aware that cost of living pressures are impacting many people in the community and these prevention programs are an important way to help people and their pets.
“A significant number of calls made to RSPCA WA involve people who are unable to afford basic and essential animal care including vet treatment, food and parasite prevention.
“We are seeing animals arrive into our care with more complex medical and behaviour needs, some of which could have been avoided or managed quickly and easily if action was taken sooner,” Ms Dreaver said.
Designed to help our furry friends remain healthy, keep loving pet owners and their pets together and avoid situations escalating into welfare and cruelty concerns, RSPCA WA encourages residents who will benefit to come down on the day and access this support.
All dogs must remain on leads at all times. Please notify staff upon arrival if your dog is reactive.
Unvaccinated or newly vaccinated puppies need to be carried. For safety, cats are not allowed, though their owners are welcome to attend.

The Nollamara Community Action Day at Des Penman Reserve will run from 1pm – 3pm and provide:

- Free dog microchipping (not available for litters or breeders)
- Free flea and worming treatments for dogs and cats
- Free chain exchange – swap your choker collar for a humane flat collar, thanks to Rogz
- Free pet food for families in financial need
- Educational information about pet care and responsible pet ownership
- Dog training and behaviour advice
