You’ve got to be kitten me! Firefighters break through wall to rescue trapped feline.

RSPCA WA inspectors and DFES firefighters have teamed up in a painstaking rescue after a tiny kitten became trapped inside the wall of a Queens Park home on Monday.

RSPCA WA was called to the Tallambee Way property after two kittens could be heard meowing in the roof space.

After assessing the situation, RSPCA WA trainee inspector Amanda McMinn realised the tiny feline had fallen and was now trapped inside a wall cavity.

DFES was called in to help and, with the homeowner’s permission, firefighters from Welshpool Career Fire and Rescue Service carefully removed bricks to create an access point.

After several hours of painstaking work, the crew was finally able to reach the little calico kitten and bring her safely out.Kitten Kiki rescued

Trainee inspector McMinn said it was a challenging rescue which required plenty of patience and teamwork.

“She was in an internal wall cavity that was really long, complicating the rescue even further,” she said.

“The DFES crew were fantastic. They worked for ages, smashing through the wall with a hammer while at the same time being careful not to injure the kitten.

“We had to encourage her to come out by letting her hear her sister’s little meows – she was understandably a little overwhelmed after her ordeal, but thankfully she was safe.”

The kittens, both female, have been named Kiki and Blaiyke in honor of two of their rescuers, Kieth and Blake. Amanda said the names were a fitting tribute.

“It was a huge team effort and we’re incredibly grateful to DFES for helping us get Kiki out safely,” she said.

Following initial veterinary checks, both kittens are doing well and are now settling into foster care.
