The RSPCA says politicians are not doing enough to stem instances of animal cruelty in WA. The horrific examples of animal cruelty highlighted in media reports over recent years have shocked many West Australians.

According to RSPCA National President Lynne Bradshaw, many West Australians are left wondering where their parliamentary representatives stand on animal welfare issues.

As a result, RSPCA WA has put animal welfare on the political agenda ahead of the State election by publishing the results of a poll of political parties’ attitudes to key animal welfare issues.

“Many West Australians consider animal welfare as an election issue and they want to know where the political parties and their local representatives stand on a range of animal welfare matters,” Ms Bradshaw said.
