These one-day workshops offer a behind-the-scenes look at the RSPCA Animal Care Centre, including safe interaction with animals in our care. Get crafty to help rescue pets

A DIY day to help animals in need is a great idea for the holidays. From easy-as knotty spiders, to more challenging creations like a snuffle ball, we’ve got ideas for all ages and abilities. RSPCA’s furry friends love having toys to play with while they are waiting for their forever homes! Donations are gratefully received at RSPCA WA in Malaga (that is unless your own pet gets to them first!).

Young animal lovers have the chance to make a real difference by becoming an RSPCA WA Junior Rescue Officer! Junior Rescue Officers are in for some fun animal activities as they tick off tasks to do for animals their Paw Point booklet! Plus, they’ll get a goodie bag full of extras like an official ID card, and communications from RSPCA inspectors throughout the year! The program is recommended for those aged 5-12.

Most kids love to get into the kitchen, right? Well, those of you with pooches are in luck. We have an easy dog biscuit recipe to keep your canine happy. And if you don’t have a dog, maybe you could bake them for a neighbour who does.

Recipe for turmeric, ginger and coconut dog bickies
Makes 12 bickies, Prep time: 20 mins, Cook time: 30 mins

Ingredients:
2 cups wholemeal plain flour
1 teaspoon ground turmeric
2 teaspoons ground ginger
¼ cup shredded coconut
¼ cup rice bran oil
¾ water

Method:
1. Preheat oven to 160C.
2. Mix all ingredients and knead into a ball. Flour your bench and roll cookie dough flat to two centimetres thickness.
3. Cut with bone shape cookie cutter.
4. Bake for 30 minutes.
