Greg’s current experience as a livestock producer and his previous experience as a public servant is welcomed by the Board.

After spending decades working within the public sector, Greg and his wife took the opportunity to follow their passion for the land and set up Miniritchie Farm on 300 hectares at Spencers Brook in January 2018. The farm runs about 800 ewes producing merino wool and cross bred lambs, with occasional crops.

In the public sector, Greg’s career included senior roles at the Department of Fisheries before moving to the then Department of Agriculture and Food (DAFWA) as Deputy Director General overseeing regional operations and development. He later focused on the corporate strategy and operations within DAFWA before moving to the State Government agency ChemCentre as Director of Business and Corporate Services.

Greg says he was attracted to the RSPCA WA Board as it is an expertise-based Board rather than a representative one. 

“Achieving high standards of animal welfare is very important to farmers who work to ensure they achieve this every day of the year,” said Greg. “As a practising sheep farmer, I believe I can add to the existing expertise on the Board.”

Greg also holds an Australian Institute of Company Directors Diploma, a Masters of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Agricultural Science.

RSPCA WA Board Chair Lynne Bradshaw AM said: “WA farmers are the custodians of millions of animals and Greg will make an important contribution to the Board’s discussions.”
