RSPCA is calling for witnesses after a four-week-old kitten was thrown from a hatch back type vehicle on Heppingstone Road in Brunswick, in the state’s south west, at midday on Saturday, 26 January 2013.

The kitten suffered a broken hind leg and a fractured front leg. The kitten also suffered injuries to another leg and injuries to its jaw.

Brunswick Veterinary staff treated the kitten and are making it as comfortable as possible. The staff named the short-haired tabby kitten “Aussie” due to the incident happening on Australia Day and a tribute to the kitten’s ability to battle its injuries.

This is the second case of animal cruelty in the region in less than three weeks. A cat was shot with an arrow in suburban Eaton in early January this year.

RSPCA would like to hear from any witnesses to either incident and reports can be made confidentially to RSPCA’s Cruelty Hotline on 1300 278 3589.
