RSPCA WA Animal Welfare Awards - Nominations Now Open!

Nominations for the RSPCA WA Animal Welfare Awards are now open, and the search is on for WA’s unsung animal champions.

Held annually, the awards celebrate people working tirelessly across the State to save animals and improve their welfare.

There are four categories for individuals and groups, plus one category for an outstanding animal who has changed someone’s life for the better. This could be a pet who has had a significant positive impact on their owner’s life, or a therapy or service animal who has helped many people. Mick Fullerton and Clio the python

The five categories are:

2019 award winner Mick Fullerton (pictured right with python Clio) says it felt amazing to be acknowledged with the Community Action Award for his volunteer work rescuing and relocating reptiles and venomous snakes through Western Reptile Removal.

“There are so many passionate and committed people devoting their time and energy to helping animals in WA. To have a platform to highlight their hard work is so important,” he says.

Nominations close Friday, 28 August 2020, and winners will be recognised at a ceremony in October for World Animal Day.

“This year, we’re excited to launch a revamped animal category, which will award a furry friend who has had a positive impact on the life of their owner, or a member of the community.

“The bond humans and animals share can be incredibly powerful – it really does change lives and this award is a chance to celebrate that.”
