The RSPCA's role in agriculture Livestock producers are responsible for looking after millions of animals across Australia. That means producers are a very important group to RSPCA. Throughout our long history, RSPCA has proven our commitment to working with the livestock industry to achieve improvements in farm animal welfare at all phases along the supply chain. We work directly with industry peak bodies and with individual producers who choose to take part in the RSPCA Approved Farming Scheme and the Beef Cattle Welfare Challenge. We recognise the need to balance animal welfare with the commercial realities of farming to ensure a viable livestock sector in which producers have the resources they need to properly care for their animals. We believe good animal welfare and the needs of individual animals can be met while, at the same time, providing the community with food and fibre via a productive and profitable livestock sector. We use this pragmatic approach when working with numerous peak livestock industry bodies. Find out more here.
