The opportunity

We are seeking a Head of Shared Services to join our team. Reporting to the CEO, this is a strategic leadership role that will be pivotal in establishing, managing, and optimising our shared services function. You will be responsible for centralising and streamlining critical business operations, including finance, human resources, information technology, facilities, and other support functions. This position offers the unique opportunity to build and lead a high-performing team whilst driving digitisation, operational efficiency, cost optimisation, and service excellence across the organisation. Your work will have a direct impact on RSPCA WA's ability to allocate resources effectively towards our core animal welfare mission.

Key responsibilities

  1. Establish, develop, and lead the Shared Services function, creating frameworks, processes, and policies that support all operational divisions of RSPCA WA
  2. Manage and supervise shared services teams across finance, human resources, information technology, facility management and risk, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement

  3. Develop and implement operational strategies that streamline processes, improve efficiency, and reduce costs whilst maintaining service quality

  4. Oversee financial management, budgeting, and reporting to ensure compliance with organisational policies and statutory requirements

  5. Provide executive oversight of workforce planning, talent management, employee relations, and organisational culture.

  6. Maintain and mature the organisation's risk management framework, leading business continuity planning and organisational resilience initiatives.

  7. Manage capital and maintenance planning and ensure all premises, physical assets, and animal housing facilities are maintained to a high standard and fit for purpose.

  8. Support the development of a digital roadmap aligned to the organisation's operational and strategic needs.

  9. Manage information technology infrastructure and systems to support organisational objectives and ensure data security and compliance

  10. Collaborate with senior leadership and other departments to identify operational needs and implement tailored solutions

  11. Drive a culture of customer service excellence, ensuring that internal stakeholders receive responsive and high-quality support

What we're looking for

  1. Must have tertiary qualification in relevant discipline and professional qualifications as CA or CPA.

  2. Proven experience in driving operational excellence and continuous improvement through the implementation of streamlined processes, service delivery frameworks, technology solutions and performance management systems

  3. Demonstrated experience establishing and managing multiple shared services functions, ideally including finance, human resources, and administration

  4. Strong understanding of operational best practice, process improvement methodologies, and cost optimisation strategies

  5. Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate diverse teams across multiple disciplines

  6. Highly developed capability in people leadership as a senior leader who shapes culture, builds team capability, and models the behaviours expected across the organisation

  7. Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, financial management, and reporting

  8. Experience with information technology management or working closely with IT teams to support organisational needs

  9. Experience providing strategic advice on risk, compliance, and financial matters to a CEO, board, or governing committee

  10. Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate organisational objectives into operational plans

  11. Excellent stakeholder management capabilities with the ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels

  12. Experience operating in environments with regulatory complexity, funding accountability, or public scrutiny.

  13. Proficiency with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and modern business management software
