They are responsible for delivering dog training services in accordance with the RSPCA WA curriculum and guidelines. They are required to adopt and promote methods used and approved by the RSPCA during the classes, adhere to the training guidelines and abide by the policies and procedures of the RSPCA. The customer service and quality of service provided by our Dog Trainers is vital to ensuring the ongoing success of our welfare focused dog training services. Context Reporting to the Dog Training Coordinator the Dog Trainer is responsible for the Delivery of all dog training services offered by RSPCA WA. This role includes but is not limited to:• Primary responsibility for delivering dog training services (Puppy Kindy, Level 1, Level 2 & One-on-One consults.)• Being a point of contact for dog training clients, supported by the dog training coordinator. Accountabilities 1. Customer Service• Professional delivery of dog training services• Attend to in-person inquiries regarding RSPCA WA dog training services, and where appropriate refer inquiries on to the Dog Training Coordinator.• Maintain client relationships and promote further services within RSPCA WA. 2. Engagement and Growth• Work with Dog Training Coordinator to identify new opportunities.• Attend quarterly dog training meetings.• Positively promote RSPCA WA dog training to the greater community. 3. Compliance• Ensure that RSPCA-approved methods are taught at dog training classes.• Ensure that RSPCA policies and procedures are followed and implemented.• Assess the safety and wellbeing of dog training venues and classes and report any incidents or injuries to the Dog Training Coordinator. 4. Work with RSPCA WA dog training staff to stay up to date with dog training methods, trends and changes. 5. Other duties reasonably requested by the Dog Training Coordinator or Executive Manager Fundraising & Programs. Selection Criteria Essential A dog training qualification that promotes ethical, positive practices only (e.g., Certificate IV in animal training and behaviour or similar) A proven ability to provide high quality, ethically minded dog training. Dog handling experience using ethical, positive techniques. A commitment to always providing high quality customer service. Excellent interpersonal skills. A proven ability to work independently. Enthusiastic, highly motivated attitude. Desirable A good understanding of significant animal welfare issues in WA and ability to deal with matters relating to animal cruelty.Please note: The successful applicant will be required to have, or be willing to obtain, the following: A current WA police clearance A Working With Children check A registered ABN or ACN Current first aid certification equivalent to HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
